Signs and Symptoms of Healing

When a skin wound or abrasion occurs and the wound is healing, it can get red, pussy or itchy, before it gets better, the wound needs to be kept clean. Depending on the severity of the wound, the dressing may need to be changed regularly to prevent infection.

Just like a wound to the skin, healing emotions can get worse before they get better and need to be treated with cleansing actions as emotions are let go of, from the physical body.

Treatments at Heel to Heal can be used for pampering, finding a deep state of relaxation as well as specifically assisting the body to recover from an illness or trauma. As much as it is relaxing to have a Reflexology or Reiki treatment at Heel to Heal, healing symptoms may occur afterwards.

After a treatment at Heel to Heal you may experience some of, or none of the following signs and symptoms of healing.

  • Lighter, Relieved, Relaxed, Looser
  • Tired, Exhausted
  • Emotional responses e.g. crying (with no explanation)
  • Energised, Tingling
  • Sleep – deeper, longer
  • Nausea, Loose bowel motions, short term increased Urination
  • Headaches
  • Shift in mood
  • Turn a frown into a smile

Supporting your individual response after a treatment it is always recommended by at least increasing your water intake for 48 hours. This is to aid your body flush out any toxins and dead cells that have been freed from the body’s tissue throughout the treatment.

  • Listen to your body’s inner wisdom
  • Drink extra water and no alcohol for at least 48 hours
  • Eat healthily (If your current comfort zone tempts you to eat junk food and you do eat junk food, please be kind to yourself and make sure you eat the healthy food as well, to support your journey of changing the unhealthy cycle)
  • Be extra kind to yourself. Take the pressure out of expecting to get done what you would usually get done.
  • Rest/Sleep
  • Let your inner child play – draw, paint, sew, run, walk, swim – have fun
  • Be with people who are supportive of you and positive

I often call this “turn up the TLC (Tender loving care)” of yourself.

If you have experienced any less desirable effects, be assured that they are temporary and feelings of betterment will occur.

This is part of the healing process from your treatment at Heel to Heal and not guaranteed to be experienced every time as you continue on your healing journey.

I look forward to seeing you at your next session at Heel to Heal.

Many Blessings
