Why a caffeine addiction is doing you harm

Caffeine is a double edged sword. It has both benefits and drawbacks.

If you are experiencing: insomnia, stomach upset, osteoporosis, heart conditions, stress related dis orders like anxiety and adrenal fatigue. It is generally recommended at the very least to reduce, if not eliminate your consumption of caffeine.

Caffeine is commonly found in coffee, black tea, green tea and coke.

Addiction is a compulsive habit that has developed an unconscious belief of dependence. This is demonstrated in comments and thoughts such as “I have to have my coffee to wake up” or “I have to start my day with a coffee.” Another example is going to get a coffee from a drive through on the way to work EVERY day can be the beginning of this habit. You need to ask yourself, why you are doing this. If it is to hide or deny the stress of coping to turn up to a job that is no longer fulfilling then this can lead to a slippery slope into dis ease and illness. It is helpful to ask yourself this self reflective question to allow early adjustments to your life if needed to maintain your health.

In times of stress the adrenal glands are stimulated and produce higher levels of adrenaline. Too much adrenaline in the body for long periods can result in adrenal fatigue. Caffeine is a known stimulant which affectively stimulates the adrenal glands within the bodies biological processes. To recover from high levels of stress, the body needs to relax and calm, allowing the adrenals to switch of the production of adrenaline and balance out the affects with cortisol. In times of enduring anxiety and stress impacting your wellness and function, it is recommended to reduce and steer away from caffeine sources .
